Aesthetic Plastic Surgery International is based in Alexandria, Virginia and performs a range of facial and body cosmetic surgical procedures. However, the clinic’s founding surgeon, Dr. Stephen X. Giunta, seems to specialize first and foremost in cosmetic penis enlargement surgery – and this is certainly the main focus of the APSI website.

Much of Dr. Giunta’s career has centered on reconstructive and in particular cosmetic plastic surgery, and he is currently certified by both the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. APSI are reportedly the only cosmetic surgery center in the world to use a surgical penis lengthening procedure known as MISL (Minimally Invasive Surgery with Laser). With this technique, the suspensory ligament attaching the penis to the pubic bone is severed through the use of a laser as opposed to a scalpel.

According to Dr. Giunta, who also pioneered the technique, the MISL procedure requires a smaller than normal incision to be made in the pubic region, and this results in less pain, bruising and swelling, and lessens recovery time following surgery. Furthermore, the smaller incision also reduces the formation of scar tissue during the healing process. Scar tissue tends to toughen and shrink and this can lead to a partial or total loss in gains. By limiting the amount of scar tissue produced, Dr. Giunta claims that the MISL procedure is more likely to produce satisfactory long term results.

To increase penis girth, Dr. Giunta uses the Fat Transfer method, and states that the complications often associated with the procedure – such as high or uneven reabsorbtion of the implanted fat – are only potential risks when the technique is performed poorly or incorrectly. He claims such problems generally arise because of the tendency of surgeons to overfill the penis with fat to such an extent that the body is unable to develop an adequate blood supply to the newly transplanted tissue. When this type of ‘overfill’ occurs, portions of the injected fat inevitably die and are often reabsorbed unevenly by the body – thus giving rise to the procedure’s reputation of producing unstable long term results (often in the form of an aesthetically ‘lumpy’ looking penis.)

To prevent this type of problem, Dr. Giunta performs two Fat Transfer procedures staged three months apart from one another. During each procedure, a precise quantity of fat capable of quickly developing a sufficient blood supply is injected into the penis. Together with a combination of nutrients added to prevent reabsorbtion and increase blood supply, he claims this two stage procedure ensures a greater proportion of the fat survives long term and therefore, produces superior, more permanent results.
